Dorie's Web Site Design - Free Graphics

LEARN HTML ON THE WEB

Boogie Jack's Web Depot – A popular site with great tutorials, resource information, free graphics and a good dose of pleasant humor. Boogie Jack is one of my favorite web friends! After hanging around his site and receiving a few of his newsetters you will feel like he is your best buddy! His newsletters always have useful information, interesting stuff and some fun mixed in too.

HTML Goodies is another great place with a lot of very useful information. I still
go back to to their site fairly often as a reference.

And we can't forget  Bravenet.com. They provide free (add supported) websites, reasonable web hosting and a great collection of things to add to your site like counters, guestbooks, message boards, chat rooms, blogs and more. They are one of the oldest, biggest and best Webmaster portals on the Internet.

HTML BOOKS

After digging around with the free tutorials online and finding out that I really wanted to learn this stuff, I started hunting for books. I spent a lot of time researching the best ones to buy on my limited budget. I read reviews, searched out other peoples comments and spent a lot of time looking through and reading them at the local book store. I finally narrowed it down to these two first choices and have been very pleased. I continually refer to them as my handy references. I do recommend buying more than just one book because there are always details in one that the other doesn't have.

HTML, XHTML, and CSS, Sixth Edition - Elizabeth Castro's books have been one of the top sellers among HTML books. An excellent tool to learn HTML, XHTML, and CSS, with photos and step-by-step guides. I own the fifth edition and keep it close to my desk for handy reference. It's very thorough and covers everything you need to know for a great web site.

Head First HTML with CSS & XHTML - another
"must have" book! Great for beginners or more advanced. It's very thorough but makes learning interesting and fun.

Web Site Design Made Easy, Second Edition I highly recommend Boogie Jack's (Dennis Gaskill) book "Web Site Design Made Easy." It is used by many web design classes in Universities and Collages all across the United States. I have the first edition and love how Dennis explains things in very plain language!
